Herb garden on the window sill

When living in an appartment without balcony or terrace, herbs can be grown on window sills. Selection of suitable herbs is smaller. Available are herbs, which are widely used in the kitchen for preparing meals.

For growing herbs are best suited bright windows on the east or west side with direct sunlight only in a part of a day. In winter time we move herbs on the south windows.

On the window sills are most commonly grown basil, thyme, cress, chives, parsley, oregano, bay leaf, rosemary, and others. All of these species can be grown in the garden in the summer and replanted into flower pots in the autmn. This will provide us with fresh herbs through the winter.
